oh geno!

An Undivided Pictures Production
(Short Film) 9 mins
Director - Onyinye Egenti

Oh Geno! is a fusion of documentary and narrative film - as Geno Washington, aged 74, takes us back to the pivotal night where he swapped army boots for dancing shoes, and transitioned from USAF Airman William Frances Washington to 1960s soul singer Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band. Amidst the smoke and sweat of an understated night-club in 1964, this is the story of unexpected worlds colliding, and the beginning of a career as one of Britain’s most famous black soul-singers of the 1960s.

Undivided were thrilled to work on this piece from the very beginning. We had a fantastic team of talent at every step of the way, and the whole project was a huge collaborative process.

We're proud that the film has already made it into two BAFTA-qualifying festivals - Aesthetica Short Film Festival and London Short Film Festival. And we're honoured that Everyman Cinemas has selected the film to screen as part of their Black History Month curated programme.

We're also developing a script for the feature, so if you'd like to hear more just give us a shout!
